Severe Backpain help!?
I am 23 yrs. and ever since I injured my back at work two years ago (two inhernited discs with tears) its never been the same. I woke up yesterday in the middle of the night with the worst backpain I have ever experienced and it is aching to this moment. Even Standing up and walking a few feet throws my back into a complete spasm. I have been taking a muscle relaxer and aleve and the relief is only minimal. To top things off I currently don’t have medical insurance due to a change in career. I am not sure what else I can do for relief. I tried taking a warm bath, using a coldpack, heating pad, icyhot. I am out of ideas and seriously starting to consider going to the emergency room. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I had a herniated disk before, too, and I totally understand what you’re going through. My chiropractor had this thing that she put on my back, it had about 4 - 6 little (are they called lobes? I can’t remember) that she stuck on with some creamy stuff, and when she turned it on, it felt tingly. I’m very sorry I can’t remember the professional name of it! But it made it feel more relaxed and eased some of the pain. But really, I just had to wait for it to go away gradually, by resting, either laying flat or reclining in a recliner. (I usually alternated between those a couple times a day, since it’s very boring staying in one place all the time, plus total lack of movement can also cause you to hurt more). Also, about 3 ibuprofen (or a prescribed one, but that gets expensive since you don’t have insurance - I didn’t have it either) worked well.
Ibuprofen is for reducing swelling as well as pain, and the swelling is probably what is causing your discomfort. Either that or you shifted in the night causing your nerve to get pinched. Find a chiropractor that will take you without insurance (I found one that only charged me $25).
I hope this has helped you. God bless.
